VIDEO! (Jeff Lynne)

Super rad Jeff Lynne song.  I heard it because it's on a soundtrack for a 1984 movie called "Electric Dreams".  I wanna see this movie (sort of).  It looks like it might be about computer romance but in 1984 before computers could do anything.  Giorgio Moroder had a few songs on it but i'm not sure if he produced this single.  i want that pic disc.

Found a no-singing version and got excited to make a karaoke out of it.  Instruments are all there but i had to  record all the backup vox.  Really fun.  Recorded the lead vocal too while i was at it.  Here it is.  There are dolphin noises right before the first verse.  great!

original:
used clips from the above video to make an enhanced version of the karaoke vid.  i'm not sure who the bearded producer guy is, but in the comments somebody thinks it's Bud Cort and somebody else think it's Richard Tandy (who played recorded the song with Lynne).  I can't tell or find any information about it...  looking forward to singing it on monday!:

one more thing!  Jeff Lynne released a new solo album this year.  i just started listening to it right now and it's amazing so far.  click to listen to the first track, "She".

STEPHANIE [part 1]

After a long dry spell, i've composed and recorded a new original song... unfortunately i still cant/hate writing lyrics.  i try!  but by the time i have something written and am ready to record, i read them over and think they are stupid and don't wanna sing them any more

So here's an idea:  i've sent an instrumental version of my new recording to a handful of talented friends.  specifically, these are friends who have performed lyrical and vocal feats that i've experienced and enjoyed.  they can't possibly imagine how much i covet their abilities and expertise.  if i'm lucky, maybe a few of them will be available, interested, and up for a songwriting/singwriting challenge.

the song is called STEPHANIE.  it is called this because there are backup vocals and stephanie was a 3-syllable girl's name that i thought sounded good in there (this is about the extent of my lyrical skills).

oh, and if anyone who i havent bugged yet would like to do a version, thatd be totally welcome and amazing.  click the download link on the soundcloud player to acquire the song file.  in a normal pop song structure the singing would start at about 0:13 seconds in, but this is not a must... and the 3rd verse (2:35-3:12) would be a good place for some kind of solo if anybody wants to mess around with one.

...to be continued?  YAH!
